North Slovenia trips;
Based near the beautiful Lake Bohinj (see right), we will stay in our new flying centre at Sorica (about 20 mins drive from the lake). From here we will either fly the local sites, or travel out to nearby locations.
Gozd, on the south of the Julian Alps, with it’s 500m ttb launch and the towering 1,500m mountain behind you. Lake Bohinj, in the centre of the Alps, with 3 launches, two at 500m above the lake and one at 1,100m above the lake (1665m asl), the site where the World Acro Cup is held each year. Tolmin, arguable the best XC site in Europe and the host to the PWC and other big events. Finally, Gerlitzen in Austria, north of the Alps with its 1,400m+ ride to the bottom landing field (1911m asl), with big, smooth thermals in between. We may also include other sites surrounding and across borders if we feel it will be beneficial to the group.
Accommodation is in our traditional house in the heart of the mountains. Formerly the lodge of a local hunter, it has now been converted to a comfortable accomodation sleeping 10+ persons. There is a mix of double ensuite, twin room and a few single rooms. Book early to get the room type you prefer!!!
The week should be flyable every day, but just in case it's not, we have a whole host of other activities we can do from cayaking, rafting, hiking, climbing, mountain biking, swimming, caving or maybe you'd prefer the relaxing aqua parks or go-karting. If you have a partner, maybe they'll talk you into going to the huge BTC centre, one of the largest shopping centres in Europe! There really is something for everyone and every weather, but only after we have explored EVERY possability of getting your feet off the groud, even if that means travelling!
South Slovenia trips;
We concentrate on the Lijak region which offers a 500m ttb, launching onto a huge rock faced bowl, leading off onto a long, 20km ridge whose lift is mostly thermic with some dynamic. At the other end of the ridge is Kovk. About 1000m ttb, equally as thermic stunning flying. Lijak is just a few metres above sea level for it's landing field and is within sight of the Adriatic Sea. This ensures the temperatures are almost always above freezing and THERMIC ALL YEAR ROUND! If the weather is particularly mild further north we would cedrtainly ventre to Tolmin, arguable one of the best XC sites in Europe and just a 45 min drive.
